StrokeLine costs almost $600,000 each year.
StrokeLine relies solely on donations from the community to stay open. And without your support by 30 June, this lifeline cannot continue.
That's almost 47,000 Australians who will have a stroke this year.
When a survivor of stroke or their family reaches out, we answer. But we can't do it without you.
Your support ensures we're always there to help.
The StrokeLine team are nursing and allied health professionals.
There is no other free confidential helpline staffed by qualified health professionals dedicated entirely to survivors of stroke and their families.
The StrokeLine team understand aphasia (difficulty with language) and give survivors of stroke the time and support needed to communicate. Aphasia happens when the language part of your brain is injured.
On average a call to StrokeLine lasts approximately 45 minutes.
StrokeLine means you don't have to figure it out on your own. It is here to support survivors of stroke, family, carers and friends. Whether they are new to stroke or later in recovery.
StrokeLine relies on donations from the community to stay open. And without your support before 30 June, this lifeline cannot continue.
When John* called StrokeLine, he couldn't remember his address or his birthday. He was confused and frighteningly, he was home alone.
John needed help, but couldn't figure out how to call triple zero. He was looking for a letter to figure out his address.
Thankfully, the StrokeLine team were able keep John safe and get an Ambulance on its way to him within minutes.
When John arrived at hospital, doctors confirmed that he'd suffered a series of Transient Ischemic Attacks (TIAs) and started him on medication right away.
John now knows that if he hadn't called StrokeLine when he did, he might not still be alive today.
StrokeLine receives crisis calls like John's every day. Those calls are intense. And they demand more than ever from the StrokeLine team.
*To protect his privacy, we've used a different name for John
